East End Ajwain Seeds

Ajwain seeds are also called carom seeds. They are a seed-like fruit that belong to the Apiaceae family like coriander, cumin and fennel. Ajwain seeds might look very similar to cumin or fennel seeds but they have a pungency and a slight bitterness. The seeds are fragrant and smell like thyme but they taste a bit like star anise or oregano. Ajwain seeds are used in a variety of Indian curries and snacks.
